Fireside Reading
Lately, I’ve found myself becoming obsessed with a new routine: freezing on the patio, just inches from the warmth of the fire pit, and getting lost in a book until the last embers fade into the night. There’s something about the crisp air and the glow of the fire that makes the reading experience feel so much more immersive. It’s like time slows down as the pages turn, with each chapter unfolding as the warmth of the fire contrasts with the coolness of the evening.
During the holiday season, I made a promise to myself to make reading a bigger part of my life in the coming year. The idea was simple enough— to dive into more books and make reading a habit. It started with a goal to read at least two books a month, a number that felt manageable but still ambitious. Little did I know that by the end of the first month, I would already be on my 12th book, well ahead of schedule.
The more I read, the more I realized how much I missed the quiet escape that books provide. It’s been a refreshing change from the usual hustle and bustle. It’s become my favorite way to unwind, away from screens and distractions.
As the pages pile up and the stack of books grows, I’ve decided to set a new goal— why not shoot for 100 books this year? It’s a stretch, but I’m excited to see how far I can go. There’s a lot of world to explore between the covers of these books, and I’m eager to dive deeper into it. There’s something undeniably satisfying about slowly turning a marshmallow, watching it crisp and brown before taking that first, gooey bite. It's a small, simple pleasure that perfectly complements the calm rhythm of reading. Whether it’s a break between chapters or the perfect companion to a cozy evening, roasting marshmallows adds that little bit of extra magic to the night—blending warmth, sweetness, and nostalgia all in one.
